Okayama Marathon 2025! I participated as a volunteer.

Hello, I'm KHADKA ABHASH!

Recently, I participated as a volunteer staff member for the Okayama Marathon 2025. Directly experiencing the enthusiasm and smiles of the runners, I myself gained a lot of energy. It was a very meaningful experience, so this time I'd like to write about my activities on that day in this blog.

Overview of Activities

My assigned role and the day's schedule were as follows. During the registration work on the day before the event, I supported the important preparations for the runners as they finally approached the main event.

  • Date of Activity: November 8, Reiwa 7 (2025)

  • Assigned Duty: Athlete Bib Exchange Staff (First Half)

  • Assigned Location: Registration Counter 1 (International Counter), 2, and 3

Interaction with Runners from Around the World

What particularly left an impression on me during this volunteer experience was the interaction at "Registration Counter 1 (International Counter)".

When handing out the athlete bibs (race numbers) to runners who had specifically come all the way from overseas to Okayama to run, I supported them with my best smile, hoping they could feel even a little more at ease and relaxed before the race. Crossing linguistic and cultural barriers, being able to play a part in international exchange through sports was a deeply joyful and valuable experience for me.

Of course, I also interacted with many domestic runners at counters 2 and 3, and my heart was warmed by the positive energy that came back to me every time I cheered them on with "Good luck tomorrow!"

I Received a Certificate of Activity!

Later, an official "Volunteer Activity Certificate" arrived from the Okayama Marathon Executive Committee .

Looking at this certificate, issued on November 27, Reiwa 7, the bustle and emotions of that day come flooding back. It has become a precious treasure that makes me realize how one large event is made possible by the mutual support of so many people.

In Closing

While running the 42.195km as a runner is undoubtedly wonderful, supporting the event from behind the scenes as a volunteer also brings a sense of accomplishment just as great.

I strongly felt that I want to continue actively participating in local events and sports competitions, and contribute in my own small way. To all the runners who participated in the event, thank you for your hard work! And to all the volunteer staff members who worked with me, thank you for a wonderful time!
